These images were created using the new Lensbaby Soft Focus II optic. This optic has been described by Lensbaby to be "a Velvet on steroids." When used wide open and in bright, contrasty light, you can't deny the blur! That doesn't mean you have to shoot that way. If you want a more subtle effect you can close down or shoot in less contrasty light! It's a versatile optic that way!
I love shooting macro and even though this optic is considered a 50mm optic I can get a macro "effect" by adding an extension tube. Lensbaby makes it's own extension rings if you don't already own a set!
Also, included with the Soft Focus II optic are a couple of creative aperture disks. They are hold in place by magnets with the optic and can easily be added or removed. There are 3 "holded" disks that create a texture with the bokeh and a star disk that adds star-like bokeh to light points within the image!
Some of these images are comparison shots. The settings are listed on the image.
The Soft Focus II starts at $179.95 USD for the optic only. You have the option of adding the straight body for $279.95 or the Composer Pro II for $349.95
